A warm welcome to old and new visitors.
Green Planet has had an exciting few months. Through the excellent
contacts we have built over the last few years and some beyond
that, we have now submitted several new projects for funding
and are in the process of shortly submitting others.
It is only possible to prepare sound humanitarian and environmental
projects by recognizing the need for top specialists. We are
then able to bring our government contacts and other important
liason people into the mix and offer solutions that are not only
beneficial immediately but are sustainable after the project
is completed. We always offer continual involvement but in reality
the projects are built to continue to grow and improve the lives
of further generations.
Importantly we always have some prior consultations with the
communities we are going to work with and this consultation is
ongoing. Most communities are working hard to improve their lives
and they are aware of the problems – although sometimes
they are not aware of the solutions we can offer. It is exciting
to get this involvement and the energy generated pushes the projects
along.
We are of course dependent on being able to raise the necessary
funds for new projects. This is an important part of what Green
Planet does and this year they have had dedicated people doing
nothing but fund raising for several US$100 million plus projects
that are waiting to commence. Each is designed to help the environment
and provide incomes and infrastructure for whole communities.
An interesting one is kenaf, an amazing plant that reduces the
need for wood and petroleum based materials. As an alternative
to wood pulp for paper for example – it is streets ahead.
It is stronger, can be re-cycled more often, does not require
chlorine to bleach it and uses less energy to produce. Unlike
a tree, kenaf grows to up to 20 feet tall in 150 days or less! |
